Roof Rats (Rattus rattus)
Often referred to as the black rat, roof rats are excellent climbers. They have made a nice home in residential areas where they will use trees and limbs, and other means to gain access onto a home to make a opening or entering a pre existing opening. Roof Rats are known for entering in attics, chewing electrical wires, and damaging the home. They are only 6-8″ in length with their tail being a little longer than their body at 7-10″.
